JewQ – The International Torah Championship
Learn. Grow. Compete. Shine.
JewQ is one of the world’s largest Jewish educational programs, connecting thousands of Jewish children from communities around the world through an exciting journey of Torah learning, Jewish knowledge, and friendly international competition.
Developed by the CKids International network and offered through Chabad centres worldwide, JewQ inspires children to deepen their knowledge of Judaism while building confidence, Jewish pride, and a lifelong love of learning.
Throughout the program, children study age-appropriate Jewish topics using beautifully designed study guides and interactive learning materials. Each level explores a different area of Jewish life, including Torah, mitzvot, Jewish holidays, prayer, history, values, and traditions. Along the way, students complete quizzes, earn prizes, and celebrate their achievements as they progress through the program.
Around the world, outstanding participants advance to national championships, with many earning the opportunity to represent their country at the International JewQ Championship in New York. There, children from dozens of countries come together to celebrate their accomplishments and their shared Jewish heritage in an unforgettable international event.

JewQ at Chabad Byron Shire
For the past several years, Chabad Byron Shire has proudly participated in the international JewQ program.
Designed for children in Years 3–7, the program runs annually from April through September, taking children on an exciting journey of Jewish learning that concludes with the Australian Grand Finale and Shabbaton.
To make the program accessible to as many Jewish children as possible across the Northern Rivers, our JewQ program is offered entirely online. Children learn from the comfort of their own homes, making it possible for families throughout the region to participate regardless of where they live.
After registering, each child receives the official JewQ study book and learning materials. Throughout the program, students complete their quizzes online and earn exciting prizes for their achievements. Families living nearby are welcome to collect their prizes from Chabad, while prizes can also be mailed to children who live further away.
Because the learning takes place at home, JewQ becomes much more than an individual program—it becomes a family experience. Parents and children often enjoy learning together, reviewing the material, preparing for each quiz, and celebrating every milestone along the journey.
The Australian Grand Finale
Each year, children from across Australia gather in Sydney during the month of Elul for the Australian JewQ Grand Finale & Shabbaton. This inspiring weekend brings together hundreds of Jewish children for an unforgettable Shabbat filled with exciting activities, outstanding counsellors, inspiring speakers, new friendships, and the Australian JewQ Championship.
The Australian Champion earns the honour of representing Australia at the International JewQ Championship in New York, joining children from around the world for the global finals.
We are especially proud that in 2024, one of our own students, Shalev Mayor Solell, became the Australian JewQ Champion. Shalev earned the honour of travelling to New York with his mother to represent Australia at the International JewQ Championship—an extraordinary achievement that brought tremendous pride to our entire community.
Tuition & Accessibility
As with all of Chabad Byron Shire’s children’s programs, we believe every Jewish child deserves the opportunity to participate. Financial circumstances should never stand in the way of Jewish education, and confidential scholarships and financial assistance are always available for families who need support.
We look forward to welcoming your family to the exciting world of JewQ and joining thousands of Jewish children around the globe on this inspiring journey of learning, growth, friendship, and Jewish pride.
